Day 1 – I almost did it.

Last week I decided that I would finally start forming a habit I had wanted to develop for quite some time. I would run 3-4 MORNINGS a week. I thought to myself at first that I would run every morning, but… I needed leeway. And still perhaps more leeway than I think I do.

In any case, I discussed this with my life-partner; he and I attempted to envision a life that would revolve around this type of goal. We decided that the factors that would determine my successful transition to a full-of-energy woman will include the following:
1. I should be asleep by 10PM to wake at 6AM.
2. I should have no more than a couple of drinks the night before a run.
3. I should be prepared for the workday in case I run late.
4. I will run 1 mile on the first day of my new lifestyle and build from each day of success.

Today was supposed to be the 1st day of my new lifestyle.
1. I went to sleep around mid-night.
2. I drank a little too much.
3. I was not prepared at all for the workday (I didn’t know what to wear, I couldn’t find my wallet and keys, and I was not in a good mood – everything seems harder when I’m not in a good mood).
4. I ran zero miles because I FAILED.

Fortunately, instead of dwelling on it and being pissed off, I immediately forgave myself. I do that so easily now. There’s a back story to that, by the way. I’m sure I will talk about it someday.

I decided that TOMORROW will be the first day of my new lifestyle. 🙂 As for today, I would be as healthy and prepared as possible. I ran three miles in the evening and it was really, really a nice run. San Diego is just freaking fabulous sometimes. The evening was gorgeous.

Time to say good night. I need to eat a light dinner to digest it before I sleep, and it’s already nearly 9PM.
